A complete LoRa/LoRaWAN transceiver in a 15 × 15.5 mm stamp module. The RAK3172-T is a low-power, long-range wireless module based on the STM32WLE5CC system-on-chip. This variant features a TCXO (±2.5 ppm) for reliable operation down to -40°C and an MHF (IPEX) antenna connector for easy integration with external antennas.

Pre-loaded with RAKwireless RUI3 firmware. Use it as a standalone LoRa device with custom firmware, or as a LoRa modem controlled by an external microcontroller via AT commands over UART. Supports LoRaWAN Class A, B, and C as well as LoRa P2P mode.

Standalone vs Modem Mode

Standalone mode: Write custom firmware using RUI3 APIs directly on the STM32WLE5. The module runs your application code — no external MCU needed. Ideal for simple sensor nodes.

Modem mode: Connect the RAK3172-T to an external host MCU (Arduino, STM32, ESP32, Raspberry Pi) via UART. Control it with AT commands or binary protocol. The external MCU handles application logic while the RAK3172-T handles all LoRa/LoRaWAN communication.
