The Heltec board with built-in GPS. The Wireless Tracker V2 packs an ESP32-S3 processor, SX1262 LoRa transceiver, and a UC6580 multi-constellation GNSS chip onto a single compact board — with a colour TFT display, 28 dBm transmit power, and integrated battery management. Everything you need for GPS-enabled mesh communication and asset tracking in one device.

Flash Meshtastic or MeshCore, pair it with the app, and you have a working GPS tracker on the mesh. No external GPS module, no wiring, no soldering.

Key Features

  • Built-in GPS (UC6580 GNSS) — multi-constellation: GPS, GLONASS, BDS (BeiDou), Galileo, NAVIC, QZSS. Dual-frequency (L1 + L5/L2) for faster fixes and better accuracy
  • 28±1 dBm transmit power — same high-power output as the V4. Significantly more range than the V3
  • LNA bypass — the built-in low-noise amplifier can be bypassed without affecting reception, giving you flexibility in RF design
  • 0.96" colour TFT display — 160×80 pixels. Shows messages, GPS position, battery status, and signal info in colour
  • ESP32-S3 dual-core — 240 MHz, WiFi + Bluetooth + LoRa on one chip
  • SX1262 LoRa transceiver — full Meshtastic/MeshCore ecosystem compatibility
  • LDS antennas for GNSS and 2.4 GHz — laser direct structuring antennas reduce device size while maintaining performance
  • IPEX (U.FL) connectors — reserved for both LoRa and GNSS external antennas
  • Lithium battery management — charge/discharge, overcharge protection, USB/battery auto-switching
  • Solar panel input — for autonomous outdoor GPS tracking deployments
  • Type-C USB — power, flash, debug
  • EU868 frequency band

What Can You Do with It?

  • Meshtastic / MeshCore GPS node — the built-in GNSS means your position is shared automatically on the mesh. No external modules needed
  • DIY asset tracker — mount it on a vehicle, bicycle, container, or equipment. Track via Meshtastic app or your own LoRaWAN backend. Add a battery + solar panel for months of autonomous operation
  • Mobile mesh node — carry it in a backpack with a Li-Po battery. GPS + LoRa + colour display in your pocket
  • MQTT GPS gateway — bridge GPS positions from your local mesh to the internet via the built-in WiFi
  • Custom tracking projects — full Arduino/PlatformIO support. Build vehicle trackers, wildlife monitors, fleet management nodes, or anything that needs position + communication

Good to Know

This is a development board — it ships as a bare PCB without an enclosure. For field use, you'll want a 3D-printed case (many community designs available on Thingiverse and Printables) or a protective pouch. A 3.7V Li-Po battery is required for portable use and is not included.

The Wireless Tracker V2 uses LDS (laser direct structuring) antennas for GNSS and Bluetooth, which makes the board smaller than the V1 but means these antennas are built into the PCB — they can't be replaced. The LoRa antenna uses an IPEX connector and can be upgraded.
