Since Brexit, ordering LoRa and Meshtastic hardware from the EU has often meant customs declarations, import VAT, and courier handling fees, frequently adding unexpected costs and delays of days or even weeks. And ordering from the US or China? That usually means 2 to 3 weeks of waiting, plus the same customs headaches, and the risk of receiving a device tuned for the wrong frequency band.
We've made ordering to the UK straightforward. Here is exactly how it works, so there are no surprises:
- Orders of £135 or less: UK VAT is calculated and collected at checkout. You pay the full amount when you order, and there is nothing further to pay when your parcel arrives. Simple as it should be.
- Orders above £135: under UK rules, VAT and any applicable duties on higher-value consignments are collected at the border rather than at checkout. For these orders you may be asked to pay import VAT (and any duty) to the courier before delivery. We show your goods value clearly on the customs paperwork so everything is transparent.
The £135 threshold is set by HMRC and applies to the total value of the goods in your order (excluding shipping). If you are ordering a single device, an antenna, or a couple of accessories, you will almost always be under it and pay everything upfront at checkout.

Here's something many UK buyers get caught out by: devices ordered from US or Asian sellers are often configured for the wrong frequency band. The UK and the EU both use the 868 MHz band (EU868) for Meshtastic and MeshCore, but a lot of overseas listings ship US915 hardware, which is illegal to operate in the UK and won't talk to other UK or European nodes.
